titleOfInvention | A process for initiating a highly selective ethylene oxide catalyst |
abstract | A start-up process for the epoxidation process of ethylene is provided. The method includes initiating the epoxidation reaction by reacting the feed gas composition at a first temperature of from about 180 ° C to about 210 ° C in the presence of an epoxidation catalyst. The first temperature is raised to a second temperature range of from about 230 DEG C to about 290 DEG C for a period of from about 6 hours to about 50 hours while at the same time a sufficient concentration of moderator is added to reach the second temperature, the amount of moderator is absorbed on the catalyst so that the 1 m from about 10 to about 50 g per 3. The second temperature is maintained for a period of about 50 hours to about 350 hours while the feed gas composition is adjusted to contain about 0.5% to about 25% CO 2 . The second temperature is reduced to the third temperature while at the same time the reducing agent concentration is increased to a temperature higher than the sufficient concentration. |
