abstract | In order to remove heavy hydrocarbon (HCs) and polymeric substances accumulated from the solvent loops of the two processes by cross-linking the lean solvent feed line between the liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) and extractive distillation (ED) Is used to maintain the solvent performance. The unique ability of the LLE column in injecting heavy HCs into the raffinate product stream leaving the system from the solvent allows for the removal of the accumulated heavy HCs and polymeric substances from the closed solvent loop of the ED process when the lean solvent loop is cross- . Cross-connections require minimal device changes. In the modified system, the solvent recovery column (SRC) of the LLE process supplies a lean solvent to the extractive distillation column while the SRC of the ED process supplies a lean solvent to the LLE column. |
