abstract By introducing a multi-functional electron-donating building block having both electron-donating property and hydrogen-bonding property, it is possible to provide an organic ionic crystal exhibiting nonlinear optical characteristics by inducing a molecular arrangement of non-center symmetry. The organic ion crystal comprises anion molecules having cation molecules and sulfonate anion functional groups having an electron accepting building block for donating electrons and an electron accepting building block for accepting the electrons and ionically bonding with cation molecules, The block has a piperidino group functioning as an electron donor functional group and a hydroxyl group forming a hydrogen bond with the sulfonate anion functional group of the anion molecule.
