titleOfInvention Fully ceramic nuclear fuel and related methods
abstract Various embodiments of nuclear fuel for use in various forms of nuclear reactors and / or waste treatment systems are disclosed. One preferred embodiment of the nuclear fuel may comprise a fuel element having a plurality of triangular isotropic fuel particles embedded in a silicon carbide matrix. A preferred method of producing nuclear fuel is also disclosed. The method comprises preparing triangular isotropic fuel particles, mixing the triangular isotropic fuel particles with silicon carbide powder to form a precursor mixture, and pressing the precursor mixture at a preset pressure and temperature.
