titleOfInvention Systems and methods for wireless communication of packets having a plurality of formats
abstract Systems and methods for communicating packets having a plurality of formats are described herein. In some aspects, the signal (SIG) field of the preamble of the packet may indicate whether an extension field, such as an extended SIG field or a SIG-B field, is included in the packet. In another aspect, one or more detectors may be used to automatically detect packets formatted as one of at least two different formats based on the short training field (STF) of the received packet. In some aspects, along with the training field (LTF) of the preamble of the packet, it may indicate whether the payload is repeatedly coded.
