abstract A biosorbable framework for bone engineering is described, such as bone defects, especially restoration of long bone defects or increased bone length. The skeleton is porous and includes multiple side channels. In one embodiment, the backbone comprises a layer of micro-filament mesh comprising a polycaprolactam (PCL) or PCL-composite and having a pattern of 60/160 of continuous stacking and increasing 0/60/120 degrees of rotation , To form the interconnected pores. The skeleton may include a central channel filled, packed or implanted with a suitable material, such as a bioactive agent. Furthermore, the skeleton is robust but resistant to fracture and has sufficient bending, compression and torsional strength suitable for bone engineering. The slow degradation of the skeleton is sufficient for the 3D cell epilepsy to maintain structural fusion and mechanical properties during the remodeling process.
