titleOfInvention | Microencapsulated insecticide formulations |
abstract | The present invention relates to various microencapsulated pesticide preparations for the control of pests such as aphids and parasitic mites. These formulations exhibit excellent knockdown activity, both as an LD 50 value for toxicity in the range of about 2,500 mgKg < -1 > in female rats, for both chewing and non-mating insects. Some of these formulations include a wall made of a polymer formed at least partially of an organophosphate insecticide, for example, by interfacial polycondensation of a water soluble monomer and a water insoluble monomer. In some aspects, the organophosphate in the microcapsules is chlorpyrifos. The microcapsule has a diameter in the range of about 2 to about 25 micrometers and the wall has a thickness in the range of about 5 to about 25 nanometers. |
