abstract The alkaline rechargeable electrochemical cell comprises a pasted electrode structure and the composition comprising the paste base material component comprises greater than 6 wt% to 14 wt% of cobalt. The base material may include rare earths such as yttrium. The composition further comprises particles of nickel hydroxide dispersed in the base material, wherein the particles comprise a cobalt concentration in the range of more than 8 atomic% to 15 atomic%. Cells containing these materials have excellent charging efficiency at elevated temperatures.
