abstract | The present invention relates to a polyethylene separator, particularly a polyethylene separator for a lithium secondary battery, and a process for producing the same. The polyethylene separator according to the present invention has a porosity of 50% or more, a ventilation rate of 200 sec / 100cc or less with a thickness of 20 m, and a puncture strength of 20 gm with a thickness of 600 gf or more. The method for preparing a polyethylene separator according to the present invention comprises the steps of: (S1) preparing a mixture by mixing polyethylene with at least one pore-forming agent, (S2) extruding the prepared mixture through an extruder to form a compact (S3) cooling the formed extrudate at a cooling rate of 100 to 250 DEG C / min at a temperature difference of 60 DEG C or less between the melting temperature and the cooling temperature of the extrudate to form an extruded sheet; (S4) (TD) stretching temperature is in the range of 105 to 125 DEG C, (S5) a step of biaxially stretching in the MD direction and the transverse direction (TD), wherein the longitudinal (MD) stretching temperature is from 115 to 135 DEG C, Removing the pore-forming agent from the extruded sheet to form a membrane, and (S6) heat-fixing the formed membrane to form a porous membrane.
