abstract | A method and apparatus for uplink transmission using multiple antennas is disclosed. A wireless transmit / receive unit (WTRU) performs space time transmit diversity (STTD) encoding on an input stream of a physical channel configured for STTD. Each physical channel may be mapped to an in-phase (I) branch or a quadrature (Q) branch. The WTRU may perform STTD encoding in the binary domain or in the complex domain. Additionally, the WTRU may perform precoding on at least one physical channel including an E-DPDCH with precoding weights and transmitting a precoded output stream via a plurality of antennas. Precoding may be performed before or after the spreading operation. |
