abstract | The present invention discloses a novel lectin capable of specifically binding to the L-fucose alpha 1 → 6 sugar chain. The present invention also discloses the use of the lectins. The L-fucose alpha 1 → 6 specific lectin of the present invention is characterized by the following: (1) the lectin is extracted from bacillus or acanthosis; (2) the lectin comprises 4,000 to 40,000 sodium dodecylsulfate polyacrylamide (3) the lectin has an affinity for the L-fucose alpha 1 → 6 sugar chain and the affinity is 1.0 x 10 4 M - 1 (at 25 ° C) 1 is represented by the above binding constant. The lectins can be used to specifically detect L-fucose alpha 1 → 6 sugar chains and are effective for purifying chains of L-fucose alpha 1 → 6 sugar chains or non-L-fucose alpha 1 → 6 sugar chains. |
