Slip agent for protecting glass |
abstract |
The present invention discloses the use of a paper or polymer film comprising a slip agent that can be transferred to their surface. Once the paper or polymer film is pressed against the glass sheet, the paper or polymer film can prevent or reduce scratches on the glass surface from other surfaces or particles during shipping or finishing (e.g., cutting to size, conveyance) It is possible to improve the amount of glass shipped between the glass molding plant and the purchaser. The thin discontinuous layer of slip that remains on the glass surface can then be easily cleaned in the subsequent cleaning process. The paper or film may be imbibed into the paper as a surface member or coated thereon. |
