abstract The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating sterility, a composition for promoting pregnancy, or a composition for enhancing implantation capacity of an ovum within the uterus, and more specifically, to a composition for preventing or treating sterility, a composition for promoting pregnancy, or a composition for enhancing implantation capacity of an ovum within the uterus, all of which comprise paeonol (3-hydroxy-4-methoxy-acetophenone) as an active ingredient. The paeonol according to the present invention increases expression of leukocyte inhibitory factor (LIF) and promotes attachment of fetal trophoblast cells with endometrial cells, thereby increasing implantation efficiency of an embryo, and therefore, can be beneficially used to prevent or treat sterility.
