abstract In the method for producing a lanthanum oxide nanodisk, a lanthanum-based precursor and a transition metal precursor are thermally decomposed in a solvent at a first temperature to form a preliminary lanthanide-based oxide nanodisc and a transition metal particle aggregate, respectively. An etchant is supplied into the solvent to convert the lanthanum oxide unit and the transition metal unit from the preliminary lanthanide oxide nano disk and the transition metal particle agglomerate. Then, the lanthanide oxide unit is grown using the transition metal unit as a size adjuster to form a lanthanum oxide nano disk.
