titleOfInvention Improved hydrogenation process
abstract The present invention provides an improved hydrogenation process in which heat is effectively managed to optimize catalyst productivity. More specifically, in the process of the present invention, a non-aqueous solvent is added to the reactants to provide a non-aqueous solvent / reactant mixture that can act as a heat sink and absorb at least a portion of the heat generated within the reactor. Preferably, a reaction product, or a solvent having a minimum of hydroxy groups, is used to minimize unwanted by-products.
