abstract | The continuous phase is introduced into the mixing zone through the continuous phase nozzle of the venturi device under pressure, for example by means of an apparatus, system and method for emulsifying oil and water, such as a method of emulsifying a sizing agent for use in treating paper or paperboard. The dispersed phase is optionally introduced into the mixing zone of the venturi device under pressure. The emulsion formed in the mixing zone passes through the mixing phase nozzle and out of the venturi device. The mixed-phase nozzle diameter of the venturi device is larger than the continuous-phase nozzle diameter at a ratio of more than 1: 1 to less than 4: 1. |
