titleOfInvention | Systems and methods for tissue ablation |
abstract | The present invention relates to a system and method for tissue ablation. The system includes a needle having expandable filaments capable of forming asymmetric offset lesions in a target volume that may include a target nerve. Removal of at least a portion of the target nerve can inhibit the ability of the nerve to transmit a signal, such as a pain signal, to the central nervous system. Offset lesions can facilitate surgery by directing energy to the target nerve and away from side-by-side structures. Exemplary anatomical structures include lumbar, thoracic, and cervical medial branch nerves and rami and sacroiliac joints. |
