The present invention relates to indolbenzylamine compounds useful as inhibitors of tryptamase. The invention also relates to the use of a compound for treating a patient suffering from or susceptible to a physiological condition requiring improvement by inhibition of a tryptase, comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of the compound to the patient. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising a pharmaceutically effective amount of a compound of formula I, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
