abstract The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition and food composition for preventing and treating obesity or glucose tolerance disorder containing nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) as an active ingredient, and a method of preventing and treating obesity or impaired glucose tolerance using the same. The NAD of the present invention improves the abnormal food intake pattern of the obesity animal model induced by the high fat diet intake and increases the mobility, thereby suppressing weight gain due to high calorie intake, Also, it showed improvement effect. In addition, it was confirmed that the above effect can be maintained even with a much smaller amount than the conventionally known NAD precursor. Therefore, the composition containing NAD of the present invention can be usefully used as a pharmaceutical composition or food composition capable of effectively preventing and treating obesity or impaired glucose tolerance.
