abstract | A neopentylpolyol having the formula (I) is reacted with at least one monocarboxylic acid having 2 to 15 carbon atoms in the presence of an acid catalyst such that the initial molar ratio of the carboxyl groups to the hydroxyl groups is in the range of greater than 0.5: 1 to 0.95: To form a partially esterified poly (neopentylpolyol) composition to produce a poly (neopentylpolyol) ester composition: Formula I Wherein each R is independently selected from the group consisting of CH 3 , C 2 H 5, and CH 2 OH, and n is an integer from 1 to 4. The partially esterified poly (neopentylpolyol) composition is then reacted with an additional monocarboxylic acid having from 2 to 15 carbon atoms to form the final poly (neopentylpolyol) ester composition. |
