titleOfInvention System and apparatus for dermatological treatment
abstract Exemplary embodiments of systems and devices can be provided for treating various dermatological and biological abnormalities using electromagnetic energy in the form of optical radiation. For example, energy can be provided by a chemical reaction, such as the burning of fine metal filaments, which can be used to generate high intensity energy pulses without the need for an external energy source. The various parameters of the reactive material and the vessel may be selected / selected or applied to provide a radiation pulse with a specific characteristic, including energy density, peak intensity, and radiation wavelength distribution. Various filters may be provided to further modify the properties of the radiation. Such radiation pulses may be used to examine tissues such as the skin to obtain various therapeutic or beneficial effects, including improvement in appearance of pigmentation or venous lesions.
