titleOfInvention | An automobile exhaust gas treating catalyst having poisoning resistance and a method for treating automobile exhaust gas |
abstract | The present invention provides a novel poisonous catalyst for use in automotive exhaust gas treatment systems. In order to alleviate the deleterious effects of engine oil and / or fuel additive poisoning, the present invention provides an overcoat layer comprising a porous refractory oxide and at least one non-metallic oxide coated on at least one noble metal-containing washcoat layer. The overcoat of the present invention not only protects the phosphorus, but also other poisonous deposits from damaging and / or negatively interacting with the underlying noble metal-containing washcoat. In another embodiment, the present invention provides a coating of the upstream end of a catalyst member by an overcoat layer, thereby creating an upstream catalyst poison trap zone. A method of treating automotive exhaust gas using poisoning resistance is also provided.n n n Vehicle exhaust catalyst, poisonous catalyst, catalyst poisoning zone, overcoat layer, non-metallic oxide |
