titleOfInvention | Composition for the alkaline passivation of zinc surfaces |
abstract | The present invention relates to an aqueous alkaline composition (A) for alkaline passivation of a metal component having at least a partial surface of a zinc or zinc alloy comprising an iron (III) ion, a phosphate ion and at least one complexing agent, It is adjusted in the range of 1 ~ 6 points and the pH value is 11 or more. The aqueous composition (A) according to the present invention may comprise an additional nonionic surfactant such that the composition of the type described above is suitable for application to a process in which both the purification and alkaline passivation of the metal occur. The present invention also relates to a method of alkaline passivation of metal components having at least a partial surface of zinc or zinc alloy by contacting the components with composition (A). In particular, the present invention relates to a method of surface treatment in automotive body production, followed by an acidic passivation step using composition (B) followed by an alkaline passivation step using composition (A). |
