abstract | The present invention relates to a process for the ammonia oxidation of saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbons or mixtures of saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons for the production of unsaturated nitriles wherein the process is carried out in the presence of at least one of molybdenum, vanadium, antimony, niobium, tellurium, optionally titanium, tin, germanium, Hafnium and at least one lanthanum selected from the group consisting of lanthanum, cerium, praseodymium, neodymium, samarium, europium, gadolinium, dysprosium, holmium, erbium, Comprising contacting a mixture of saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbons or saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons with ammonia and an oxygen-containing gas, in the presence of a catalyst composition comprising a Group III-V catalyst. The catalyst is characterized by a very low level of tellurium in the composition.
