abstract | [PROBLEMS] As a method of obtaining a polarizer, a polyvinyl alcohol film is dyed with a dye solution containing iodine, followed by stretching, immersed in an aqueous solution of potassium iodide, subjected to iodide ion impregnation treatment, further immersed in an alcohol solution to obtain an alcohol solution A method of performing an immersion treatment is known. However, the polarizer obtained by this production method has a problem that the degree of polarization is low. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] The present invention relates to a method for producing a polarizer comprising a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin layer containing iodine and having a film thickness of 0.6 μm to 5 μm, comprising the following steps A to C: Step A: A step of stretching a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin layer to obtain a stretched layer. Step B: A step of immersing the stretched layer in a dyeing solution containing iodine to obtain a dyeing layer having an absorbance of 0.4 to 1.0, which is obtained from a tristimulus value (Y). Step C: A step of removing a part of iodine adsorbed to the dye layer so that the absorbance is lowered by 0.03 to 0.7. |
