abstract The present invention relates to an iron-based catalyst and a method for producing the iron-based catalyst, wherein the iron-based catalyst comprises iron oxide, iron oxide and iron carbide, wherein iron contained in the iron oxide 48 to 57% of atoms, 18 to 29% of iron atoms contained in the iron oxide, and 14 to 34% of iron atoms contained in the iron carbide. According to the present invention, by optimizing the phase fraction of the iron-based catalyst, the productivity of hydrocarbons having 5 or more carbon atoms can be improved, the selectivity of CO 2 and the selectivity of CH 4 and C 2 -C 4 hydrocarbons can be lowered, It can be usefully applied to a Tropsch synthesis process.
