titleOfInvention System and method for timing and frequency synchronization by a femto access point
abstract Techniques for frequency and timing synchronization of the femto access point (FAP) are provided. In one example, the FAP may be configured to establish at least an out-of-band (OOB) link with the user equipment (UE) and receive auxiliary parameters from the at least one UE via the OOB link. The FAP may be configured to extract frequency and timing information from the at least one uplink packet of the at least one UE based at least in part on the supplementary parameters. Extracting frequency and timing information may involve sniffing at least one uplink packet to a macro base station (eNB, for example).
