abstract The present invention relates to an siRNA having the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1 and an antiviral composition for Osopoxvirus comprising the siRNA as an effective ingredient. The siRNA of the present invention can inhibit the growth of Vaccinia virus by inhibiting gene expression by inducing degradation of mRNA after binding to vaccinia virus gene mRNA. In addition, the siRNA may be used for the treatment and prevention of smallpox caused by virus infection with a virus such as vaccinia virus.
