abstract This embodiment provides a method of producing a green luminescent oxynitride phosphor having a Sr 3 Al 3 Si 13 O 2 N 21 crystal structure and also provides a phosphor produced by this process. In the present process a metal halide is used as one of the starting material metal compounds. As the metal halide, a Ca or Na compound and a Sr compound can be preferably used.
