abstract The present invention provides novel antimicrobial non-flowable 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one / zinc oxide complexes which are useful as preservatives due to their leaching resistance to the substrates to which they are attached. The present invention also relates to a method for producing a BIT / ZnO complex, a BIT / ZnO complex prepared by a novel method, a method for using a BIT / ZnO complex to reduce the bacterial count on the surface of a material or inhibiting the growth of microorganisms, / ZnO &lt; / RTI &gt; complexes, thereby protecting the substrate from attack by microorganisms. The present invention also relates to a composition comprising 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one which is rendered non-flowable with zinc oxide.
