The present invention relates to a process for hydrogenating unsaturated hydrocarbons in the presence of a catalyst comprising copper and zinc, wherein the active composition of the catalyst is in a non-reducing form, copper oxide 10-calculated as copper (II) (CuO). Consisting essentially of 95% by weight, 5 to 90% by weight of zinc oxide (ZnO), 0.1 to 50% by weight of zirconium dioxide (ZrO 2 ) and optionally 0.1 to 50% by weight of Al 2 O 3 , The sum of the weight ratios is 100% by weight. |
