abstract The present invention relates to a composition for treating malignant mesothelioma comprising a polyphenolic compound extracted from grapes and an anticancer agent cloparabine, and more particularly, a resveratrol and an anticancer cloparabine, a polyphenolic compound of grapes It relates to a composition for treating malignant mesothelioma. It was found that the combined administration of the polyphenolic compound resveratrol and the anticancer drug paraparabin induces a synergistic cell death against malignant mesothelial cell MSTO-211H while maintaining minimal toxicity to normal mesothelial cell Met-5A. Molecular studies have demonstrated that this mechanism is achieved by inducing the inhibition of Nrf2, Sp1 and Akt, inducing p53 activation, and inducing apoptosis by altering the transcriptional activity of regulatory genes. Resveratrol and cloparabine will be useful as therapeutic agents for new malignant mesothelioma by inhibiting various cell survival and malignant targets and inducing apoptosis.
