The problem with total disc implant surgery appears to be the positioning of the implant, which can cause pain if not correct and ultimately require a new surgery. The present invention relates to an improved disc implant 1 for total disc replacement, which comprises two intervertebral vertebrae elements 2 which are flexibly connected by coupling means 4, 5. After surgery, the relative mobility of the elements between the two vertebrae decreases with time, as bone ingrowth around the implant and especially through the fusion portion gradually reduces the mobility of the elements to each other. The relative mobility of the implant elements is then replaced by the immobilization of the elements. Immobilization occurs smoothly in the location affected by the movement of the patient, thereby making the patient more pleasing. n n Disk surgery, implants, replacements, mobility, means of engagement, immobilization. |
