titleOfInvention | Method for transesterification of hydroxylated oils |
abstract | The present invention provides two successive transesterifications carried out under conditions of temperature, pressure and alcohol / oil weight ratios to enable almost complete conversion of hydroxylated oils to fatty acid esters in the presence of light alcohols (methanol or ethanol) and a basic catalyst. It relates to a transesterification method of hydroxylated oil, comprising the step. Characteristically, an aqueous solution is added to the reaction mixture derived directly from the first transesterification step to obtain a reaction mixture specifically comprising hydroxylated fatty acid esters and glycerol. The reaction mixture is subjected to a separation step in which a lower density phase consisting mainly of fatty acid esters and a higher density phase consisting mainly of glycerol and water and fatty acid soaps can be obtained. The second transesterification step is carried out on a lower density and the light alcohol and the basic catalyst are added thereto. |
