abstract The opposing substrate for liquid crystal displays according to the embodiment of the present invention includes a transparent substrate, a black matrix, and a plurality of belt-shaped transparent electrodes. The black matrix divides one plane on a transparent substrate into pixel units or subpixel units, and forms a light blocking portion and a plurality of openings on the plane. The belt-shaped transparent electrodes are formed on a plane in pixel units or subpixel units. The black matrix has a frame pattern including two sides facing each other in parallel in a pixel unit or subpixel unit, and a linear center pattern formed in the center of the pixel unit or subpixel unit in parallel with the two sides of the frame pattern.
