Non-tumorigenic MCDC Cell Line for Proliferation of Virus |
abstract |
The present invention provides novel MDCK-induced cell lines that can grow in the presence of serum or in the absence of serum, are adherent and non-tumorigenic. The cell lines of the invention are useful for the production of vaccine materials (eg vaccines). More particularly, the cell lines of the invention are generally useful for influenza virus production, in particular for ca / ts influenza virus production. The invention further provides methods and media formulations for adapting and culturing MDCK cells such that the MDCK cells remain non-tumorigenic. The present invention also provides a method for producing a vaccine substance (eg influenza virus) in the novel cell line of the invention. |
