abstract Detecting abnormal signal paths in electrochemical measurements made using electrochemical test strips with dedicated potentials is allowed for the indication of an analyte determination in error. The current path has the expected shape observed at the time tpeak at which the peak current has a decrease in current. To detect an abnormal signal path, the time tpeak is determined experimentally, compared with the expected value t'peak, and an error message is provided to the user instead of the test result if the difference between the two values exceeds a predetermined threshold. The value of t'peak is determined as a function of the mobility term, which is determined during the potentiometric state following the current measuring measurement.
