abstract The present invention can improve the environmental resistance by using a stable material in at least a part of the charge generating layer in the stacked display device in which the light emitting units including the organic layer are stacked, and the charge from the charge generating layer to the light emitting unit can be improved. It is possible to improve the implantation efficiency of the present invention, and it is a display device that is easy to manufacture. A plurality of light emitting units 14-1 and 14-2 including at least an organic light emitting layer 14c are stacked between the cathode 16 and the anode 13, and between each of the light emitting units 14-1 and 14-2. In the display element 11 in which the charge generating layer 15 is sandwiched, at least a part of the charge generating layer 15 includes an oxide containing at least one of an alkali metal and an alkaline earth metal, or at least one of an alkali metal and an alkaline earth metal. It is composed using either fluoride.
