An apparatus is provided for storing and liberating compressed hydrogen or other gases. The apparatus includes a housing defining a chamber comprising a cartridge having an array of hollow microcylinders forming cavities for compressed gas storage. Each of the microcylinders has at least one end sealed with a plug made of an easily soluble alloy. The apparatus comprises a gas glass tool configured to controllably liberate the gas at the chamber capacity in the cartridge; And a control system connected to the gas liberating tool and the controllable discharge valve and configured to control its operation.n n n According to another aspect of the invention, there is provided a system and method for filling a cartridge with hollow microcylinders with open ends. The filling places the cartridge into a chamber of an autoclave, compresses the gas in the chamber, thereby penetrating the gas through the open ends into the cavities of the microcylinders. The open ends are then sealed with plugs made of soluble alloy. |
