abstract | A toner used in an electrophotographic copying process or an electrostatic printing process, a polyester resin contained in the toner as a binder, and a method of producing the polyester resin are disclosed. The polyester resin for toner comprises (a) 80 to 98.5 mol% of aromatic dibasic acid component, 0.5 to 15 mol% of trivalent or higher polyvalent acid component, and 1 to 5 aromatic sulfonic acid component with respect to all acid components. Alcohol containing 90-100 mol% of aliphatic diol with respect to the acid component containing mol% and (b) all alcohol components, and 50-100 mol% of 1,2-propanediol with respect to all the alcohol components.
