The present invention contains palladium which is used as a catalyst for producing α, β-unsaturated aldehydes and α, β-unsaturated carboxylic acids from olefins or α, β-unsaturated carboxylic acids from α, β-unsaturated aldehydes with high selectivity or high productivity. A catalyst, a method for preparing the same, and a method for producing α, β-unsaturated aldehydes and α, β-unsaturated carboxylic acids from olefins or α, β-unsaturated carboxylic acids from α, β-unsaturated aldehydes with high selectivity or high productivity As an example, there is provided a palladium-containing catalyst containing 0.001 to 0.40 mol of tellurium metal with respect to 1.0 mol of palladium metal. This catalyst can be preferably produced by a method for producing a palladium-containing catalyst comprising a step of reducing a compound containing an oxidized palladium atom and an oxidized tellurium atom with a reducing agent. |
