titleOfInvention | Use of HOK signaling pathway genes for the treatment of fungal infections |
abstract | The present invention provides the use of an inhibitor against at least one protein or gene selected from the group consisting of SSK1, TCO2, SSK2, PBS2 and HOG1 of Cryptococcus neoformans for the preparation of an antifungal agent, comprising the inhibitor An antifungal pharmaceutical composition, comprising a method for treating a fungal infection comprising administering an effective amount of the inhibitor to a subject. According to the present invention, inhibition of one or more proteins or genes selected from the group consisting of SSK1, TCO2, SSK2, PBS2 and HOG1 of Cryptococcus neoformans enhances the biosynthesis of ergosterol present in fungal cell membranes. Since a large amount of ergosterol is distributed on the cell membrane of the fungi, the action point of the antifungal agent that kills the fungi by binding to ergosterol is increased. Thus, inhibitors of these proteins or genes can be used as combination therapeutics that significantly increase the fungal killing effect of erosterol binding antifungal agents.n n n n Antifungal, Ergosterol, Cryptococcus Neoforms |
