titleOfInvention | Reduction of Hook Phenomenon in Membrane-Based Analysis Devices |
abstract | A membrane-based analytical device for detecting the presence or amount of analyte present in a test sample is provided. The apparatus uses a chromatography region in which a plurality of microporous particles are disposed thereon. The chromatographic region can effectively reduce the "hook phenomenon" in a simple, efficient and relatively inexpensive way. In particular, the plurality of microporous particles allows larger analyte / probe complexes to reach the detection region ahead of analytes that do not form a complex. As analytes that do not form complexes are substantially excluded from competing the complexes for binding sites in the detection region, the appearance of "false negatives" may be limited even at relatively high analyte concentrations.n n n n Hook phenomenon, analytical device, chromatography, detection |
