titleOfInvention | Cortical Stimulating Hormone Analogs and Related Methods |
abstract | ACTH analog compounds of the invention include compounds comprising an ACTH sequence with one or more structural modifications that may have one or more of the biological functions of the preferred ACTH analogs as follows: (1) ACTH over unmodified ACTH MC-2R binding compared to corticosteroid secretion in the adrenal membrane in the presence of analogs, (2) decreased corticosteroid secretion in the adrenal membrane in the presence of endogenous ACTH, and (3) MC-2R melanocortin binding of unmodified ACTH. Increased affinity and decreased activation of the MC-2R receptor. Thus, the ACTH analog compounds of the present invention are available for the treatment and prevention of diseases and disorders associated with ACTH, ACTH receptor or corticosteroid secretion, such as early delivery and Cushing's disease. |
