When mesenchymal stem cells or ES cells obtained from mononuclear cell fractions isolated from bone marrow fluid or umbilical cord blood were cultured in basal medium, the mesenchymal stem cells or ES cells were observed to induce differentiation into neural stem cells, neurons or glial cells. Furthermore, it was found that the induction of differentiation from mesenchymal stem cells or ES cells to neuronal cells is promoted by adding ischemic brain extract to the basal medium. In addition, the neuronal cells obtained by the differentiation-inducing method was found to have neuronal regeneration ability in the cerebral infarction model, dementia model, spinal cord injury model, demyelination model.n n n Furthermore, in mesodermal stem cells, high expression or activation of immortalized genes makes it possible to induce differentiation into neuronal cells by immortalizing the mesodermal cells and further culturing the cells under appropriate conditions. The method of the present invention is very useful in the treatment of neuronal regeneration.n n n n Mesenchymal stem cells, nervous system cells, differentiation induction |
