One aspect of the invention relates to an ionic liquid comprising an additional Bronsted acid group, for example a sulfonic acid group. Another aspect of the invention relates to the use of an ionic liquid comprising additional Bronsted acidic groups to catalyze the Bronsted acid catalyzed chemical reaction. A third aspect of the invention relates to an ionic liquid comprising an additional nucleophilic group, for example an amine. Another aspect of the invention relates to the use of an ionic liquid comprising an additional nucleophilic group to catalyze a nucleophilic monolithic chemical reaction. A fifth aspect of the invention relates to the use of an ionic liquid comprising an additional nucleophilic group for removing gaseous impurities, such as carbon dioxide, from a gas, for example an unpleasant natural gas. |
