abstract | According to the alkyl exchange process of the present invention for treating both C 10 alkylaromatics and unextracted toluene, the following improvements can be realized. The toluene extraction is no longer needed, so the reformate splitter column can be omitted. The extraction unit can be moved to the top of the benzene column. Strict separation between C 9 alkylaromatics and C 10 alkylaromatics is no longer necessary and the heavy aromatic column can be omitted. Such transalkylation processes must stabilize the transalkylation catalyst through the introduction of metal functions. Another improvement on the flow scheme is achieved by omitting the clay handler for selective olefin saturation at the outlet of the reforming unit and the isomerization unit. This improvement results in an aromatics complex with reduced main process facility curve costs and an improvement in the return on investment in such a complex. |
