Disclosed are a wastewater treatment apparatus and a wastewater treatment method including a bioreactor filled with a microorganism immobilization carrier. The disclosed wastewater treatment apparatus includes a bioreactor filled with a tetramethyl ammonium hydroxide (TMAH) degradable microbial immobilization carrier. In addition, the disclosed wastewater treatment method includes adjusting the pH of the influent, passing the pH adjusted influent through the TMAH degradable microbial immobilization support to obtain treated water, and returning a portion of the treated water to re-pass the microbial immobilization support.
