titleOfInvention Glass manufacturing method using outgassed frit
abstract A method of making a glass material is disclosed wherein the outgassing material is mixed, melted, outgassed, formed into frits, and then the frits are essentially mixed with the non-outgassed materials to form the glass. Melts. Since frits are already outgassed, less gas is generated in the final glass melting step, thus reducing foaming and scum formation. As a result, the heat transfer efficiency in the glass furnace is improved and lower melting temperatures are achieved. The process can be carried out in any type of glass furnace and is particularly suitable for high silica glass compositions.n n n n Outgassing, Frit, Non-Outgassing, Scum, Melting
