titleOfInvention Methods and apparatus for minimizing polymer accumulation on process equipment, in particular safety equipment
abstract The method and apparatus of the present invention minimize the accumulation of polymer on equipment, which is in contact with the polymerizable material during normal process operation. The method provides an installation, such as a pressure relief device, such that a moving liquid fluid is at least intermittently in contact with the installation and the one or more accumulated polymeric materials, condensates containing the same, and polymers are flushed out of the installation. Placing and adhering to a process apparatus, such as a distillation column, near the wet region of the process apparatus that includes the liquid fluid. The apparatus of the present invention comprises a process vessel having at least one wall defining an interior space comprising at least one wet region containing a moving liquid fluid during process operation in the process vessel; And during process operation in the process vessel, a moving liquid fluid is at least intermittently in contact with the plant and attached to the process wall and close to the wet area to flush out one or more accumulated polymeric materials, condensates comprising the same, and the polymer from the plant. Includes deployed equipment. The method and apparatus of the present invention are effective in maintaining the service-readiness of the installation, which prepares for the safe long term operation of the process equipment.
